Cullera:

The mountain of Cullera has been inhabited since time immemorial by man. Its origin can be traced back to the Upper Paleolithic as we can see through the different archaeological sites, among them the Cave of the Volcano of the Lighthouse.
One of the most outstanding periods in the history of Cullera took place during the Muslim domination, a period during which the castle was built over Iberian and Roman remains. Most probably the current name of Cullera has an Arabic or Mozarabic origin.

From 1248 the Christian repopulation took place after King James I had made the Islamic population living in the territory of the Castle of Cullera evacuate. This enclosure was conquered by the monarch in 1239.

Later, it was Martin the Humane in the early fourteenth century who gave Cullera the title of royal villa in the Valencian Cortes, lasting until the loss of the Fueros.

Another important historical episode occurred in 1535, when the Barbary pirates attacked the city. However, the most important pirate assault took place in 1550 with the feared Dragut at the front.

In the following centuries the rice and orange crops began to spread. With the great flood of 1864 (riuada grossa), the course and course of the river Júcar changed. In the 20th century, in the decade of the sixties, tourism changed the physiognomy of the town
